Wrap It Up

Wrap It Up

Photographed & Styled By Aviva Stein-Wotten

There was a slight chill in the air the day I dreamt up this photo shoot.
I had recently revisited the Pre-Fall 2011 collections and fell
in love all over again with Diane Von Furstenburg.
All I wanted was to wear a wrap dress and a turtleneck!
Unfortunately, the day of the shoot was not turtleneck weather,
but Madison toughed it out like a pro.
I tied a scarf like a turban (as best I could) for a slightly sultry look on Rachelle.

A La Playa

A La Playa
Photographed by
Aviva Stein-Wotten

When thinking of the beach and the ocean two things immediately come to mind: sailors and color (the first one normally lingers for a while).  These were my inspirations for this shoot.  In keeping with the trends of the season, I also infused a few '70s inspired looks.

On The Links

Bringing a wee bit o' Sass to the Green
Photographed By Rachelle Stein-Wotten

For this shoot I decided to go in front of the camera and have my sister who is normally my photo assistant (what else is family for?) take the photos.  I think she did a fabulous job.
My initial inspiration was this awesome striped polo. Polo=Preppy. Preppy =Golf. Natural conclusion was a golf shoot.
I wanted to stay fairly classic golf attire, but throw in a little something unexpected. Hence the feather and lace chapeau.
I don't know if we'll be seeing this look anytime soon at the Masters, but I felt like a pro in the making. I even took a few practice swings!

May Weather

So I know I had promised new photos, but May didn't exactly provide me with the best lighting conditions, what with all the rain, and wind.  I am taking a short leave for June but, I will be back in July for some more gorgeous shoots with some new faces and new fabulous ensembles!

New Photos Soon

Thanks for all the great comments.  They are all very encouraging.  I am currently working on a new photo shoot.  Some hints:  light, happy, carefree, preppy.

Will post soon!

Style is a state of mind

The saying "are you wearing the dress or is the dress wearing you?" all comes down to one thing:  confidence.  It really does not matter what you wear as long as you wear it right.  If you want to dress head to toe in black leather plus half a ton of black eyeliner to finish it off, go right ahead; with a few stipulations:  Those leather pants hug your curves, but are not overwhelmingly tight so when you bend down to pick up that pen (that you dropped on purpose to impress the cute guy in the library) the seams do not split on you, creating a whole other mood.  Perhaps, pair the pants with a very structured jacket to stay away from the whole catsuit thing.

You want to show off your beautiful cleavage your mama gave you?  That's why Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton brought back the bustier.  However, it is important to balance the look with something less promiscuous such as wide-leg dress pants, or like at Louis Vuitton, a classic circle skirt à la the 1950's.

So there you have some rules to wear what you want properly. Now comes the easy or perhaps difficult part.  You've got to take those skinny jeans and leather jacket and make them work for you.  You've got to wear the outfit like you were born in it, like some one made it especially for you to wear and no one else.  Confidence.  If you want to wear 4 inch heels then you better walk in them like your feet were made like Barbie's.  Confidence is your best defence and your best personal trait.  If someone is giving you odd looks because they do not like your ensemble, give them a smile and a hair flick.  They might not change their opinion of your clothes, but your just not going to give a damn what they think.  Everyone likes a confident person.  Not an egotistical person, but someone who is cool in their own skin.  If you master this then whatever clothes you choose to go over that coolness will make you feel 100% awesome.

It's been a while...

I realized it had been too long since my last post when I decided to scroll through my old posts and it took me a whole 3 minutes to read them all.  So with that, I begin a new year and a new blog post, complete with a new blog layout to boot.  I hope you'll like it.

I have a few things planned for this year:  one, write more blog posts (I'm already wishing myself luck on that, so don't worry you don't have to); two, create a business card advertising myself as a personal stylist (and hope this leads to some sort of business).

At the moment, that is what I'm seeing for myself.  As for my actual blog post it will be up shortly.

Enjoy the new look!
